I am a cook, a music lover, a teacher, and a writer. More formally, I am an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and an Affiliate Faculty with the Department of Rhetoric and Writing, both at the University of Texas at Austin. As a teacher, scholar, and curious human, I am interested in the ineffable, or events, things, and experiences that we have difficulty talking about, including affects, feelings, and aesthetic encounters (such as with film and music). Put more plainly, I am fascinated by how the human animal attempts to represent the unrepresentable.
