Profile from Jenn Fishman's Marquette University Profile
I am a rhetoric and composition/writing studies teacher and scholar. A member of the Marquette faculty since 2011, I am also the former Director of the First-Year English Program and co-founder of the Writing Innovation Symposium. In addition, I am a 2018-2019 Faculty Civic Dialogues Fellow.
My published scholarship includes more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters; the Research Exchange Index (REx), which is a scholarly database for writing research (2016); and special issues of CCC Online (2012), Peitho (2015), and Community Literacy Journal (forthcoming, 2018). I am the Principal Investigator of 3 grant-supported research projects and the recipient of the 2006 Richard Braddock Award. My current projects center longitudinal and undergraduate research as well as community writing.
Over the course of my career, I have contributed extensive national professional leadership. I am Past President of the Coalition of Feminist Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition and the founding Co-Chair of the CCCC Committee on Undergraduate Research. I am also an inaugural member of the Literacy in Composition Studies Editorial Board and the Coalition of Community Writing (CCW) Board of Directors. In these roles and others, my modus operandi is to make available meaningful opportunities for others.
