You and a partner and a partner and partner will teach the class about a reading you find and share with us. Why are you doing this you might wonder? Well, it ain\u2019t because I\u2019m lazy. By teaching the class you will be doing a number of things that\u2019ll help you in the future. You\u2019ll be improving your oral presentaton skills, your critical thinking skills, and your organization skills. AND, most importantly, you\u2019ll be learning about different ways to interpret and argue about the world.<\/p>\n<p>Your presentation should be 60 minutes. Don\u2019t worry though! Part of this will be your activity.<\/p>\n<p>You and your partner will select a reading from an approved resource.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose a reading.Email me a link or pdf of the article you\u2019ll be instructing us on to\u00a0get approval.<\/li>\n<li>Choose a cartoon to watch in class for 10-15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Meet with me the Monday prior to your presentation with a lesson plan in hand.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>lesson plan \u2013 5%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click this link to access the <a href=\"http:\/\/paulmuhlhauser.org\/polaroid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/toon-teach-lp.doc\">lesson plan<\/a>. You\u2019ll need to clean up the word document so it is designed clearly without all my instructions.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lesson Plan<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A \u2013 your plan is critical and thoughtful. Follows directions and meets requirements. If called for, it cites and\/or summarizes the text in order to support points, and illustrates a clear grasp of the topic at hand. No grammar, punctuation, or spelling problems unless done for effect. Your plan makes sense and is easy to follow\/understandable.<\/p>\n<p>B \u2013 your plan lacks some level of critical engagement. If called for, it cites and\/or summarizes the text to some degree, but a clear grasp of the topic is not fully illustrated and\/or one of the requirments is not performed correctly. May have grammar, punctuation, or spelling problems. Your plan is not as easy to follow as an \u201cA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>C \u2013 your plan lacks critical engagement with text, and uses little to no support. Illustrates little understanding of the text, the initial response, and\/or one or more of the requirments is not met. Many grammar, punctuation, or spelling problems. Your plan is confusing or feels incomplete.<\/p>\n<p>D \u2013 your plan indicates some level of awareness of topic at hand, but very minimally and\/or one or more of the requirments is not met. Many grammar, punctuation, or spelling problems.<\/p>\n<p>F \u2013 your plan indicates zero level of awareness of topic at hand and\/or one or more of the requirments is not met. Your lesson plan makes me ask a question: Huh?<\/p>\n<p><strong>the instruction \u2013 15%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your instruction should have a clear purpose, be well organized, and follow your lesson plan. It should have openings, transitions, closings, and activities.<br \/>\nI will be judging you on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p><em>presence<\/em><\/p>\n<p>How do the presenters carry themselves in front of the audience? (voice, posture, gesture, eye contact)<br \/>\nAre they prepared?<br \/>\nIs there an even distribution of communication?<br \/>\nDo they use technology well?<\/p>\n<p><em>information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What information does the presenter share with the audience? (background, specific examples, source attribution)<\/p>\n<p><em>image aids<\/em><\/p>\n<p>How do the presenters\u2019 image aids contribute to his\/her presentation? (quality, use, purpose)<br \/>\nDoes their activity and\/or discussion contribute to audience\u2019s understanding?<\/p>\n<p><em>organization<\/em><\/p>\n<p>How does the presenter organize his\/her presentation?
